Will Intel still sell SB when IB is released?

Just curious, are they going to completely switch over production?

Wondering, if the 32nm SB will prove to be more "robust" than the new, and slightly unproven, 22nm IB, as far as overclocking goes.

Or perhaps, SB will have some further price reductions at retailers like Microcenter, to clear out old stock, and I could pick up a deal.

Debating on getting a SB, IB, or 8120 for my secondary rig. The price on the 8120 combo with the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 (Free!) is VERY appealing, but I'm not 100% sold on BD.

Depends on what version you are talking about. If its desktop Core i3/i5/i7 chips, I think 32nm will be completely replaced. However, rest of the chips take forever to switch.

I'm pretty sure there will be leftovers. But production wise I see it being stopped shortly after 22nm release.

No there is always overlap between CPU generations.
If by "robust," you mean lower overclocks at higher Vcore, then yes SB will be more robust than IB. Just kidding of course. IB should overclock higher on lower voltage. A Pentium 90 is much more robust than a 2600k but unless you are sending the chip into space where stray magnetic fields and ions could damage it then go for the newer, faster, more efficient CPU.
Don't expect prices to move unless Intel changes the current pricing structure.
IB will not be a huge leap from SB (except for on-board graphics) but will provide an evolutionary performance step. SB will still be a very viable CPU when IB arrives.

i seriously doubt it since they even use the same board, no need to keep the old stuff on the market, unless it's just left over stocks. you can probably buy SB cheap on ebay though. I see i5-750 going for 150 on ebay after SB intro. so my guess is you can pick up 2500k for about 150 after IB intro. why u need SB now IB is coming? they use the same board no sense buying the older gen cpu unless you really short on cash.

intel has a lot of fabs and it costs a lot of money to upgrade them and it can't be done all at once anyway. so, yes, some older products will remain in supply for quite a while, most likely. heck, nehalem generation there wasn't even a regular desktop quad 32 nm part.

Yes, currently sold Sandy Bridge systems from Dell/HP/etc need warranty parts. Also, it may take for some system builders several months until they switch to Ivy Bridge.

Can still buy Bloomfields but those being workstation CPUs they probably get extra shelf life. Newegg has some Clarkdales but no Lynnfields.
