Will Intel release a 64 bit processor that fits the pentium M socket in the future?

I'm considering buying a notebook with a pentium m processor, but i was wondering if they will offer cpus to fit the slot in the future that will be 64 bit compatible. I know the new 600 series of the p4's have 64 bit support. Anyone have any idea on this? Thanks a lot.

I would look at middle of 2006. They have 65nm lower IPC/Pipeline chips coming with low wattage but I can't remember the exact details. However, there are no plans for a Pentium M slot compatible 64bit part as far as I can see. If you want 64bit and low power for the next year on the laptop than it is AMD's Turion or nothing in the X86 world (with good speed)

Turion AMD64 at 2.2 with 1024 L2 cache rated at 35W

If anyone has some sort of link of an article addressing this I would appreciate it. If I can find out resonably for sure that i can upgrade to 64 bit in the future i'm going to order my new notebook! :)

I guess if i'm not going to be using the battery much on the notebook, does it really matter form a p4/athlon64 or a pentium m? I mean am i going to get better performance from one or the other? Thanks
