My current system is an Athlon XP 1800, 768MB PC2100, Shuttle AK31 v3.1, 2 @ 60GB Maxtors, Radeon 8500, etc...
I've been having some lockup problems lately and I think it's about time to do a format/clean Windows install. I don't want to do a full upgrade yet, but I'm thinking about swapping an Asus A7N8X Deluxe in there instead of the Shuttle.
If I leave my current system the same and just put the Asus in there, will I see any sort of performance increase? How much of an increase would I get by also putting in a couple sticks of 512MB PC3200? Also, how future-proof is the A7N8X? Will it be able to hande whatever the top-of-the-line processor is in 6-8 months?
