Will I see any benefits from upgrading my router?

I just bought a new cable modem to upgrade to docsis 3.0 and I am debating whether to buy a new modem as well.

I would like wireless N but I don't *NEED* it just yet. I currently have my PC and my Xbox hardwired. My laptop only has a wireless G adaptor.

My current router is an old Linksys WRT54G.

Would I see much of a performance increase (especially for gaming) with a newer router?

The thougput of a WRT54G is 20Mbps.
So if your internet subscription is faster you'll likely benefit from an upgrade.

You could speedtest.net your connection now with and without router and see if it makes a difference. If it does, you'll benefit.
