im looking to get the Cannon 13x19 printer so last week i saw the S9000 i look back this week and i see they will have an S9100 and the only difference is the DPI now i like to have the latest stuff but but if i can save a few bucks im all for that, most of the stuff i will be printing out will be from Photoshop, illustrator, and digital images taken at 4mp and i dont do much scanning but im thinking of getting the epson 3200 photo scanner which does up to 3200 optical dpi, what do you think

Those numbers are beginning to mean less and less.

All the S series models output some pretty impressive photo-quality prints.

As for scanning, it depends if you're scanning from prints or from slides/negatives.

Dount it, not w/o a loupe. I don't remember who did the review but somebody tested an Epson 1270 with the newer Canon and Epson wide format inkjets. Until they magnified they couldn't spot a quality difference. The advantages of the newer inkjets aren't in photo quality it's in speed and better inks. Check out inkjetart.com for lots of good info. If you do a lot of printing the continous inking sytems are cool.

*None of this applies to HP inkjets.* :D

the "i" series canons are superior to the "s" series and yes you can see a difference if you are critical.

I have a i850 with continuous feed ink and so far so good. Same guy makes it for the 6 color canons too. He tells me the continuous feed on the canon is more reliable than the epsons he's built.
