will i run into problems installing half life and UT on windows XP

Half-Life (and all associated mods) runs just fine on my system. I have UT, but it's uninstalled and the CD is at home, so I can't speak for it's compatibility. I'd guess it works just fine though.

Unreal Tournament runs just fine under xp!
XP has wonderful compatibilty with games, infact i have been able to run games i never could in win2k

UT will run fine, you'll need to use the latest patch for HL.
