Will I reap the benefits of this upgrade?

From reading various threads on CPU heatsinks, I've realized that perhaps opting for the Volcano 6 Cu+ may not have been the best decision (...it was cheap though;) Although it is keeping an non-overclocked Athlon XP 1800 around 37 celsius at idle and 42-43 under load, I'm developing this need to try overclocking this bad boy in the near future. One of my major concerns is noise level, so I'm currently looking at purchasing the Alpha 8045 or the Swiftech MC462 and changing the fan to an 80mm Panaflo. I've heard that this combo would provide adequate cooling and quiet operation. My question is that would purchasing this combo bring my current non-overclocked core temperature down in your opinion, if all other conditions (ambient room temperature etc.) remain the same, or would I still be at around the same temps with this new heatsink & fan combo? Any idea on how loud the noise level would be? (the Volcano 6 Cu+ only runs at 3200 RPM at idle but is still quite audible and rated at 39dBa)

I think Panaflo L1A's are rated at 24 dB spl (maybe 21, I forget) anyway, you will definitely hear the difference. I'm guessing that you should get at least the same temps as you have now but much quieter. As for future OC cooling, you picked a winner of a HS (either) and performance will only improve as the CFM of the fan increases.
