Will I need good memory to massively overclock an A64?

I can get generic memory for around $110CDN for a 1GB stick. Decent CAS2.5 OCZ stuff runs around $140CDN. The insane stuff is like $200ish (CAS2, 2-2-2-5 timings). What should I get? I'm getting a pair of 1GB sticks. It's a shame there aren't 2GB sticks yet. :)

You can always run dividers. If you want to run it @ 250-ish clocks, get some decent DDR500 from G.SKILL, OCZ, etc. If you don't mind running a divider around DDR400, get the 2-3-2 stuff. Not worth the extra money to go 2-2-2.

If you want the uber-best, get Ballistix DDR500. Should hit 300MHz @ 3-3-3

Ok...well what % faster will an A64 running with uber-ram at 300mhz be than one running with the 200mhz stuff? Equally clocked, of course.

Meh, it seems there's a balance between tight timings & also higher frequencies.
Both contribute to performance.

Now i am assuming you aren't too worried about cost based on what you stated, so here's my suggestions:

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=17032&vpn=991493&manufacture=MUSHKIN

Or if that's too much:

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=16092&vpn=991483&manufacture=MUSHKIN

You may want to check the price direct from Mushkin, it may be cheaper actually.

The 2 GB Crucial Ballastix DDR500 is the best, but it's pretty much impossible to find in Canada, not to mention even more expensive.
If you want to go that route, then check out TankGuys.biz
Email them; they will ship to Canada.
