I currently have a Thermaright AX-7 on my Barton 2500 which I am quite happy with. I soon will be upgrading to an Athlon 64. Does that platform use a different kind of heatsink? Or can I use my AX-7?
Since AX-7 only fits on a Socket A(462) and 370 and Athlon 64 is primarily a 754 socket which requires the support of the heatsink by 2 nipples, you will either have to use a retail heatsink or buy a new one.
Dang, even Thermaltake is making them now, here's the link, at the bottom of the page. I think you'll be happy with the hsf that comes with the retail version, though. I haven't heard anyone complaining about them, except for the guys over at xtremesystems.org, of course!
