Will I need a floppy drive?

For my next build I'm gonna use a SATA hdd. The motherboard has native SATA support (Intel 845PE, wich I believe sees the ports as IDE2 and IDE3). My question is, will I need a floppy drive to install the drivers during the Windows installation? I wasn't planning on putting a floppy drive.

My Windows XP CD is an OEM copy from HP, and I've read that I cannot slipstream SP2 on it.

Well you'll need a floppy drive in order to install the drivers of the HDD. You'll need to either get the drivers off the manufactures website and copy them onto a 3.5" Floppy (These are the most up to date) and i recommend doing this. But if you can't and have the disk that has the drivers just install them from there. I have a DFI LanpartyUT and had to do the same thing. As far as the copy of Windows...As long as you haven't registered it then you'll be fine. I have a friend who installed his copy of Windows that came with his Dell. And he is currently running SP2 on it.

You will need to install drivers if you plan to use RAID.
If you just want to use a SATA drive (not RAID), you may not need to install any drivers.
I have a P4P800 deluxe motherboard from ASUS, and I have my XP OS on a SATA drive. I never needed to install a driver for it.

Well, this is for a mobo with a third-party SATA controller. The Asus P4P800-E Dx. has two ports from the ICH5R south brigde and two from a Promise 20378 controller. I guess I'd have to do this If I wanted to use the ports from the Promise controller, rigth?
