anyone know if your loose your RAID array (RAID 0 Array) if you switch mobo's? Right now I have a on board RAID controller (Promsie Fastrak 100 something or another on an ASUS board), if I switch to another board do I loose the array? That would suck if I did...160GB array isn't the easiest thing to back up!

If the MB has a different RAID controller, yes, you will definitely lose the RAID

I had drives setup on an AIT IT7 and switched over the the exact same MB with no problems. If you change to a different MB, expect to rebuild the entire RAID.

Many different MBs use the same RAID chipsets. If you stay with the same RAID chipset you *should* be able to maintain your array. Anyone have any information to the contrary?

I had an AK35GTR (Shuttle socket a) and switched to an Epox 4G4A+ (P4 478 board) both had the same raid controller and it worked perfect with the same array and OS... :) But I did reinstall the OS later just to be sure... ;)

Becareful switching MB chipsets. ie: nforce to KT 333. This can be quite a shock to the OS if it is install on the raid partition, it may not ever boot from it because of the mismatched drivers. Make sure the drivers are the same version on the chipset or a compatible version.

This is especially the case if it's a newer chip set, ( we're talking northbridge here ) that didn't exist when the OS was published.
