I curently have an epox ep-8kda3j mobo, but out of disgust for it after after having two of them break, I want to switch to a GIGABYTE GA-K8NS . What will this mean for me as far as the stability of my system? Will I have to reinstall windows all together, just a few programs, drivers,.... what? I DO NOT want to have to reinstall. Please help me understand what I will be getting into.

Odds are you will have to reinstall. In fact, I advise it. If the chipsets are the same, then you might be able to get away with not, but it's all in the luck of the draw. You used to be able to get away with this in 98, but 2000+ pretty much stopped it, though I have done it for a few custoemrs successfully.

You can try to remove ALL the chipset drivers and just about everything in device manager..

In the end, most will end reformatting the system, not worth the possibility of bugs and minor annoyances..

I would just wipe it.
