Will i have problems with my 750 Duron and Iwill kk266-r, concerning OC'ing?

Hey all,
I was just reading the roundup and i thought to reread the kt133a and Oc'ing issue's article again. Well, im expecting an Iwill kk266-r W/ duron 750 in today or tomorrow and getting a little worried. i planned on overclocking this baby to 1ghz, if it could handle it. should i just increase the FSB incrementally upto 132 before i attempt the 133 jumper? i think i would also like to try higher than 133, ifthe chip and ram could handle it, and see what i can get. i can always change the default multiplier to 7 very easily, but i definitely dont want to resort to cutting any bridges.

feed back on this would be greatly appreciated as im getting this hooked up by this weekend.

thanks a bunch

The chip might not be able to reach 1ghz, so u might have to lower the multiplier with a pencil, because it uses both fsb and multiplier, and it will try it at 7.5x133 first. You can try to raise the voltage though or just hope it works.

i did factor in the possibility that the cpu might not handle it. since its just connecting one L6 bridge, i will lower the cpu to default to 7 and work from there, just so i dont have to rip apart the system again. i just wasnt sure if the current kt133a with 133 jumpers were still effected by this issue.

thanks

It really depends on the chip you get...You may get a chip that overclocks real well or you may get one that doesn't. You can look at Overclocker.com for some idea of what your chip can do and how to get it there using the CPU list they have.

I am running that MB with a duron 700 and get 900 with little effot. I unlocked the processor and upeed the multiplier to 9X100. I have not messwed with the FSB because I plan on getting a 1+ghz chip in a week or so.

I have this exact setup, and here are my results.

I found that my Duron 750 will go to 975 w/ NO effort (6.5x150). Someone here asked if it would do 1 Gig, so I checked it out. I couldn't do 1050 (7x150). I could, however, do 1 GHz with ease at (7x134). I didn't push it beyond that because I'm just not interested in the magic "Gig" status - I'd rather have the decent FSB.

BTW, I have Kingmax RAM rated at 166 MHz and a CHEAP Volcano II HSF w/ the stock fan. My chip is AKCA. Oh, and I didn't even use Arctic Silver II, I just left the pad on the HSF.
