Will I have problems with a 20" + 19" dual setup?

Dual monitor virgin here- I have a dell 2001fp, and am considering adding a 19" lcd to it, or perhaps a 20" widescreen lcd.

Will I have problems with this setup as far with the difference in resolutions?

It's definitely better if you can run the same vertical resolution, but it's not the end of the world if you can't.

Will it still be possible to drag over to the other monitor without windows getting cut off?
Or blow up an application across both screen- will this fill both screens without the cutoff?

Thanks

You can catch a window on the edge between screens of different vertical height, but you can drag freely where they match.

As for maximizing across disparate resolutions I would imagine nview or similar has the capability, though I've never used it. You would obviously be limited to the lesser of your displays for vertical resolution.

If you already have a 2001FP is there any reason you don't want to just get another? They're nice monitors, with a higher pixel count than any of the 1680x1050 panels (and far higher than typical 1280x1024 19" panels).

It'll be odd if you span the windows. But if you actually keep the monitors seperate it's actually not a huge deal

Thanks for the feedback.

I was going to add another 2001fp, but for the same price I could go with 2 19" lcd's to flank my 20.
Then, the 20" widescreen is $380, while the 2001fp is over 400.
So it's about the money, but I'll probably end up going for the 20" after all, based on the feedback.

I hate you, I'm still stuck with a 17" CRT.

I'm running at 18.5viewable crt and a 19inch lcd. As cool as it is, I kinda lack the ability to effectively span windows except with programs with workspaces like photoshop, protools, premiere and such. I really would recommend trying to get two of the same...even if you have to wait a few months.
