You realize that was just a scam and an phony campaign promise, right? I have never understood why otherwise intelligent economists have supported it. Except for a fund that it ridiculously small in comparison to the amount needed for payouts, Social Security funds only exist on paper. It's not like your 401(k) where the money really exists and you actually manage real investments.Originally posted by: Ornery
Those fvcktards will NOT support Social Security Privatization!
Thanks to you Democrat Socialists, we're stuck with friggin' Social Security in the first place. Thanks. Thanks a lot! :|
As would I. Then I wake up and realize that I was lost in a fantasy.Originally posted by: Ornery
It's a tiny step in the right direction. Any more than that wouldn't see the light of day. I'd like to see credit for dollars off my SS taxes, for money put in a 401K... or something... ANYTHING!

Well, the only party we have ANY HOPE of changing it for the better, is the GOP. The Libertarians will NEVER be in power, and the Dems can't think of any solution other than raising the tax even more! Public Opinion and Social Security PrivatizationA Plan For Privatizing Social Security
- Approximately two-thirds of voters would support privatization of Social Security, transforming the program into a privatized mandatory savings program. More than three-quarters of younger voters support privatization.
- The biggest objection to privatizing Social Security has been the transition to a privatized system. But the projections of the fiscal impact of the plan offered in this study show that the transition can be financed without new taxes and without cutting benefits for today?s recipients. (1997)

Yep! Tax more, there's the solution! Damned rich!Originally posted by: SuperTool
We need to get rid of payroll taxes, and add SS to the income taxes. Make it progressive, remove the cap, and it'll be solvent in no time. If someone makes 800K/year, but you only tax them for the first 80K, you could be getting 10x the SS revenue with a flat SS tax, much less progressive one.
