When you defrost say some boneless Purdue chicken breasts and put it in the fridge.

how long will it keep in the fridge before it's no good to eat?

I defrosted some chicken yesterday, if i keep it in the fridge, can we cook it tomorrow night?

I will say NO. That's really pushing it. The chicken should have been cooked up yesterday after you defrosted it. It's only a $5.00 package of chicken. Throw it out and buy a new one. You don't want to get sick.

well, i left it out of the fridge to defrost it while i went to work

when i came home, it was still extremely cold, but seemed like it pretty much thawed all the way. Now it's in the fridge.

Just use a thermometer when you cook it and make sure the insides gets to 180F.

Yes, but probably not from the chicken.

As long as you cook it thoroughly, it'll be fine. I'm a bit of a spazz, though, so I probably wouldn't eat it.

Personally I never defrost meat outside the fridge, always inside the fridge. Now, I've let meat sit in the fridge for some time, even frozen, unfrozen, and refrozen meat, but I never let it sit outside. However, if you bake the hell out of it, it will be fine.

Last year I ate a hot dog I found in my fridge.. it was all defrosted and stuff and a bit green but I ate it anyway.

Well, for a week after that I was crapping 12 times a day. That is not an exageration either. It was the week of 1000 poops.

Horrible week...

180F?!? Try 165F or 170F, tops. Salmonella dies at 161F.

I still wouldn't risk it. Toss the old stuff and buy some new chicken.

Man, i had bad chicken before. That was an awful 24 hours. I was literally sitting on the toilet most of the day, and was tossing out liquids from both ends of my body. And the fever and sweats... geez. Never again.

Shoot guyver01, there's plenty of 'em in New York! My family goes to one in Richmond Hill all the time. I think there's even one on Jamaica Ave. in Queens Village.

Actually, when I was a wee lad, I was taken to a slaughterhouse and saw a duck, which was happy and alive, get killed in front of me. I was a traumatized li'l kid. For like 15 years after that, I wouldn't eat duck. Even recently, when I tried to eat duck, my stomach would get upset while I was eating it. Only last year was I able to eat duck w/o problem.
