Will I be disappointed with an A7V266?

I am putting together a video editing rig. After doing a fairly exhausive comparison between boards, I've decided to go with the Matrox RT2500. Everything I've read recommends going only with the certified equipment from Matrox when putting together a machine. Unfortunately, none of the KT266A boards have been tested yet. The Asus A7V266 (KT266) is approved, however. So is the Gigabyte GA-7DX (AMD 761). Will there be a significant difference between either of these boards and the KT266A performance? Should I hold off until they are able to test the newer chipset, even though it could be months before that happens? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Patience!

Asus is the best and the kt266a rocks. I am holding out to get mine. Big difference between the old kt266 and new kt266a, amd 760 inbetween.

Hey fellow hoosier:p

My suggestion would be the A7V266-E. It uses the KT266a chip which looks to be the top in performance, but Nforce is also up there with it too. From the reviews I have read it seems like it is a pretty good board and gotta love having those 2 extra ide connectors on the mobo. I also suggest checking out some of their other boards that they have just realeased. I wouldn't mind getting their new dual processor mobo :D

A link to their showcase is at http://event.asus.com.tw/EXPO2001/product/rd_mb_p4b-e.htm

Hope that this helps out

I would not get the regular A7V266. I would get either the Epox with KT266a chipset or latest Asus with the KT266a chipset. The regular kt266 chipset was a major dud. The performance should have been there to begin with.
