Will I be able to use this remote without the tuner card installed?

I had one of the first TV Wonder cards many years ago and it was just awful. Hardware and software was pretty bad. They seemed to have made a lot of progress in five years and now I am looking at the

TV Wonder Pro Remote Edition

My idea is to use the tuner in another PC so I can record without affecting the performance of my PC but I want to use the remote on my PC so I can control the video when I play it back with WMP (I assume the media buttons work with anything that supports them, just like the ones on my keyboard). Will this remote control work on a computer which doesn't have the tuner in it? The receiver is USB.

Thanks. I was wondering if it was just the remote wonder or ATi did something screwy to it so it would need the tuner. I would be surprised if the driver pacage that came with it will just let you install the remote apps. I had my eye on this

Remote since people seem to like it better (even though it is IR) but I need a TV card that has recorded timings and my Leadtek doesn't cut the mustard for that purpose. Hope that Guide Plus is as good as it is advertised to be because that is primarily what I need a new TV card for.
