Will I be able to lower my cpu voltage after awhile of usage?

Right now I am running my 700-933 at 1.65 default voltage and it is doing fine. When I try for the magical gig, it will only boot into win98se and then crash when I run 3dmark2000. Up the voltage to 1.7 and it seems to be running fine now. My question is if I run at 1ghz 1.7v for awhile, will I be able to run at 1.65v in the long run or is it stuck at 1.7v for stability? Cuz if its stuck at 1.7v stable, I was wondering if I should just revert back to 933 1.65v , as I like default voltage :) thx

No one will be able to say with any real certainty. Maybe you'll be able to later stabilize at default voltage; maybe you won't. If 1Ghz at 1.7v is truly stable, leave it. It is barely over default and you get the bragging rights of 1Ghz.

I don't think 1.7v will cause any damage to the CPU even after extended use. I am prepared, of course, to be corrected. :) Sounds like you've got a great CPU.

thx for the reply, the chip is actually running at 1.75v's tho, since the asus cusl2 adds voltage for unknown reasons...so default voltage is actually 1.7v's...

An old rule of thumb is to not raise voltage more than 15%. Assuming max 10% to be safe you are still OK @ 1.75 even given that ASUS would make that 1.80. Know what I mean?
