Will going to SERO allow me to keep my current sprint number?

I have a chance to move to the SERO plan, but I was wondering if doing so will allow me to keep my number I've had for about 8 years now. It's just a PITA to have to go thru all of those contacts to give them a new number.

Do any of you know?

You will be able to keep it.

I thought SERO was only available to new customers though. Last I heard if you were an existing customer they wouldnt do it. They may have changed that though.

Also new SERO plans come out tomorrow, I think.

Apparently, they cannot port existing Sprint numbers due to software issues. You can switch to SERO and get a new number, or switch to a pre-paid wireless account with your current number, then switch to Sprint as a "new" customer.

I was on a family plan with my mother as the account holder, and I was able to switch and keep my number because the old account (my mom's) was still there, and technically I was a new customer.

I called this morning and got a hold of the accounting department. I explained what my postion was/is (basically sick of paying close to $100 a month on service and no incentives to make me want to renew a 2 yr contract) and requested the SERO plan. She put me on hold for a minute or 2 and came back and said it was some thing they could do for me. She went thru the motions of asking me which plan I was interested in. I told her the $30 plan and she said it would not be a problem.
The system would not let her put me on the plan. She put me on hold for a few seconds and then her supervisor picked up to apologize and that the new plans are the only options available. Still $99 'Simply Everything Plan' isn't what I am interested in paying....no matter unlimited anything.
Basically there are no more perks or awesome deals to be had. The new SERO plans are in no different from what is available to anyone else.

I may have seemed a bit snotty, but I asked her to make it worth me staying with Sprint. She said she would look into it and see what they could do. I asked her how long have I been with Sprint and she said it would be 10 years the end of this month. I asked her what would 10 years get me in terms of incentives. Of course she couldn't answer but she asked if she could have her manager call me back and inform me of my options.

Well, it's been 2 hour plus and still no call. Not that I am expecting one or anything......

I talked to a CSR on the 10th, and she was not able to help me. She tried to get me to signup for the simply everything plan as well. I called again on the 11th and was able to get someone who did help me, and had me setup with the $30 SERO plan. I do think that plan expired today (13th).

As is the case with any customer service phone calls with any company, just keep calling back until you get someone who is helpful and knowledgeable. Just be polite and patient and you can usually get what you want.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't being an ass nor do I plan to be. Kinda hard getting people to help you if you sound like an absolute ass.
The gal I got was very polite and helpful and wasn't disappointed by her at all. I just don't think I'll be getting that call back.

Well, I actually just got a call back from Sprint.

They were able to get me and my other line on the $30 SERO plan. I got a flurry of text messages about plan changes and then a call from the rep I had spoken to earlier. She confirmed the changes with me and now all I have to do is go to a corp. store and pick out my phones. One problem tho. No Instinct or Black Berry phones (the wife wanted a Pearl).
I have the option of going to those phones if I want to pay the extra money a month.

Yeah, its $30 a month extra for the BB, which kinda negates the great deal you have. The new Treo 800s came out today, at no additional monthly charge.

I didnt mean to insinuate that you had been an ass, I was just speaking in general terms for anyone reading. Congrats on getting in with SERO.

The corp. store I went to Sunday didn't have the Treo 800 available to demo for me. I'll be going today to take a look.
It's a toss up between that and the Mogul.

Just reading around on the net, but I really wish the HTC Raphael or Diamond would arrive a bit sooner. Both look to be fairly slick. It'll be carried by Sprint but won't be slated for release until Sept.

I have 30days from July 21 to make a decision on what phone I want, so there's not too much of a rush.
The wife got a Centro yesterday (against my suggestion to do otherwise) so I have just mine to worry about now.
