As with every computer accessory, there is good quality, and bad. In general, does using generic ink carts shorten printer life? Are there any negative aspects? Where could one go, to get the highest quality carts, an Epson 880 for example?

I have an old Epson Stylus Color II, and I've used generic ink before. I'm not sure if it damages the printer or not, but I hated it. The ink ran out so quick it's not even funny. I would rather pay the extra money and get the brand name ink. Hope this helps.

Well I used generic ink on my Canon BJC-6000 until it crapped out today, so I smashed it w/ a crowbar & ordered the 880.
