Will games run better on X64?

Ah, exactly as i thought. So x64 is more aimed towards buisness as of right now..?

No, most businesses are using the 32bit XP. A lot are still on 2000 Pro. No reason to change what works...

Am I correct in thinking that 64 bit extensions only allow for higher precision, and more memory mapping ability? Neither of these seem very useful to a game at the moment.

Pretty much, but the AMD64 CPUs also come with more GPRs, memory controller on-die and other things that can impact performance.

While we're on the topic, I'm still trying to find a reason for me to install x64. As a home user that likes to toy around and also works at a help desk for MANY colleges, should I install it for kicks or concentrate on Vista?

These impact performance also in the same way on 32 bit OSes, right?

Ran identical for me on xp64 and xp32 (2gb of ram even).

For 1GB of RAM, x64 ran better for me and with 2GB there's no difference. Could be just because my x64 installation is barely broken-in at all and it's still in a very clean, fast state. However, I have nothing in the background that would be slowing down BF2 in x32 so I conclude it must be because of possibly some better memory management in x64. The whole thing just seems snappier in general, it boots twice as fast with the same amount of drivers as x32. Also I just reinstalled x32 the other day but x64 is still faster. 🙂

The on-die memory controller probably will and other features might, but the extra GPRs won't since the 32-bit code won't know they're there.
