Will Future Intel CPUs continue to be socket 478???

Hi, I am wondering if the next generation Pentium 4's or even the Prescott CPU will still be based on socket 478/

Well it looks like it will be 478 for awhile... but there's news lately that the new 3GHz and on P4s will still require new motherboards ... 😕

I thought the Prescott was the next generation PIV. Anyway, expect it to use socket 478 but not all (any?) current boards will be compatible. My guess is the vast majority of boards compatible with PIV 3.06 -- which haven't been released yet AFAIK -- will work with the first Prescotts.

PS Current info (confirmed by Intel I believe) is that current boards may not meet the 70A spec needed for PIV at 3GHz. The previous spec was 60A.

Like racer said... there will need to be new MB because the 2.6/ 2.66/ 2.8 all will need a 70w CPU power
As for future chips, the new .9 nm design will need a new socket compared to the .13nm design
