Will Ferrell should stick to prescribing himself in small doses

Will does great cameos and small supporting roles...but he is way over the top to carry a movie himself.

Really the only entertaining parts of this movie were Christina Applegate and Steve Carell. I had the same problem with Elf, but to a lesser degree since he had to tone it down a bit to get the PG rating needed for Elf.

Same could be said for Ben Stiller...share the screen...don't try and rip it away from everyone else in the movie.

I haven't seen it, but someone at work said it sucked really hard. That night my wife told me she nearly rented it.

I wholeheartedly agree about both Will Ferrel and Ben Stiller. Left to his own volition, Ferrel will resort to childish shock humor ending with him defecating himself in order to force laughs. Ben Stiller would become the pussiest guy possible in a lame attempt to get laughs while making all men ashamed of who they are.

This used to happen to Jim Carey until he toned himself down.

If you have seen a preview for Anchorman, you have seen the full extent of its funny bits...

Man, my sense of humour is so messed up. I loved Anchorman! I drew the line when trying to watch the version with Ferrell & the director's commentary - that was a bit silly. From the "Skyrockets in Flight" singing to Jack Black booting the dog off the bridge - "That's how I roll" (LOL!)... i guess you have to be kinda silly to enjoy it to its fullest. Have you seen the best of Will Ferrell (vol 1 or 2)? I saw the first one and I have to get the 2nd soon. More cowbell!!

Ferrell is very funny, and was very funny all throughout Anchorman. When he left SNL, I stopped watching. Ben Stiller is also extremely funny. Dodgeball was hilarious.

Stiller knows how to share the screen, Royal Tenenbaums is a great example.

Anchorman was just a lame movie. Ferrell will get a good one eventually...

I enjoyed it.

Probably because I watched it for what it was, a joke, and wasn't looking for some insight to the mystery of life like others.

"That's how I roll."

you nerds got no sense of humor. I thought Anchorman was hilarious. It was silly, but funny.

btw, Jim Carrey was the best, before he toned down

The best part of the movie had Brick in them. Anytime that Ferrell had more than 30 seconds of airtime to himself I felt like hitting the chapter skip.

Maybe it's just a sign of me getting old. I dunno. You could have cut Ferrell's screen time in half and filled it with other cast members and the movie would have been more enjoyable.

I understand the point of the movie was for him to be a major part of the screen. But there's a fine line between making a point and making a movie unwatchable.

hear hear. I just saw Napolean Dynamite a few nights ago, and while I didn't hate it per se, I was not impressed at all. It was just so strange and random and lacked any sort of humor at all. And then I just saw Anchorman last night. It wasn't the funniest movie I've seen, but it made me laugh. Definitely better than Napolean.

Oh, I laughed at Anchorman. Just not from Will Ferrell.

And laugh non-stop at that. :(

Anchorman = Funny
Dodge Ball - Funny
Napoleon Dynamite = Funny

What's wrong with you people? No, there are not the be-all, end-all movies of comedic genius (ie: Blazing Saddles), but they are funny flicks.

LOL- because talking about eating sh1t, sh1tting it out and eating it it again is *much* funnier than an anchorman news team brawl with weapons and dismemberment!

THAT was funny. Largely compounded by Brick showing up with a grenade and then sticking somebody with a trident.

:D
