Will Eyefinity kill my theater?

I'm in the process of building a dedicated theater in my basement. 110" screen, 1080p, two rows of seating and custom-built (by me) 7.1 surround sound system. The plan was to keep kicking ass on it so I could have it ready for Skyrim's release.

After seeing the $129 Viewsonic 24" deal from a few days ago I think I've caught the Eyefinity itch. I've been researching it for a few hours and really want to try it out. I'm concerned, though, that if I fall in love with it my new theater is going to collect dust. I do have a 360 with a ton of games I just bought off a friend for almost nothing that I figured I'd play in there. I just don't want to start driving a Corvette and then have a brand new Pinto collecting dust! I know a large screen is a different experience but I'm concerned the new field of view that an Eyefinity will provide will make my theater less appealing.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

I really don't think so.

Those are two different animals you're talking about there.

While not on the same scale of HT and Eyefinity as you, I have asked myself the same question.

IMO,

HT with 110" Screen and kick-ass 7.1 sound and comfy seating >>> HT with 60" Screen and kick-ass 5.1/7.1 sound >>> 3x24" Eyefinity with smaller sound scope

Granted, all three setups are awsome, but your setup would be the best from a gaming standpoint IMO. You really can't replicate the sense of scale and immersion that a high quality sound system gives you in a large room setting, it's one of the biggest reasons to go with a large single screen and robust sound system over a traditional desktop seating scenario.

Considering gaming immersion, I think you'd have to be crazy to abandon the 110" setup for a 3x24" eyefinity setup .

For pure gaming purposes I would take a good pair of open backed headphones over a hometheater setup any day.
