in my quest to buy something when i go to the US on holiday, ive now toyed with the idea of getting a PSP (also considering Canon SD500, Sony VAIO Digital Music player)

is the PSP the same as say the PS2 is? like in the US its NTSC and in the UK its PAL and so the games wont work properly if bought in the wrong region?

i heard the CPU isnt running at full speed? and that they will be releasing some kind of update later to boost the CPU to its 333Mhz when needed?

True. They needed to clock down the CPU in order for the 3 1/2 battery time to be true. They should be releasing a larger battery which will allow for the CPU speed to be unlocked.

:D

games can unlock it if they choose to. like some of the emulators have that option right now. some people have stability issues with it, ymmv

It's not that the processor can't run at 333mhz, it's that right now none of the games need to have it up that high. They use the onboard graphics chip to do much of the work, which uses less battery.

There are emulators out that need to use the higher speed on the cpu because they have not figured out how to use the onboard graphics, so everything in being emulated through the processor.

Games are not region encoded. Movies and additional media are.

The processor is soft locked at 222 but runs fine at 333 as well. Emulator packs give you the option to bump it up. I haven't had any issues with it running at 333.
