I'm kind of surprised this hasn't been discussed here (as far as I know). Sounds like there's been some strong (Dodd) yet sometimes subtle (Geithner) opposition to her taking the post. I may not agree with all of her views, but she seems to be pretty honest and very intelligent. It's hard for me to believe Obama's gonna go with anyone else, he's already in way too much trouble with his base to go with someone else.

I don't really understand the opposition. Dodd is such a piece of shit it's almost beyond description. Every single thing he does is centered on currying favor with his soon to be bosses on the lobbying circuit. He ought to be whipped out of the chamber with a rubber hose.

Anyways, Obama should put her up there and welcome the fight. She will absolutely humiliate any challengers during any confirmation hearings.
