Will DMA100 HD give more speed with a DMA100 motherboard?

Hi,

I'm getting an IBM 75GXP DMA100 drive. I'm either getting the Abit KT7-RAID or the ABit KT7. I don't won't to use the RAID setup on the RAID board, I just wanted it because it supports DMA100.

Will this actually give any extra performance over the non-RAID board that only supports DMA66?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

I did consider the ASUS, but it's only $5 cheaper, and the ABit seemed like it would be better for overclocking with the SoftMenu III thing.

Raid being ignored, there isn't to much of a difference between ata/100 and ata/66 for the simple fact that hard drives cannot really througput the amount of data ata/66 allows for, so the extra data bandwidth isn't really used. If a hard drive, even if it is ata/100, can't put out enough data for ata/66, then it doesn't matter if it can go even higher theoretically in throughput. For the most part, I think ata/100 is a big marketing ploy (imho).

That's too true. So do you know if the DM100 actually makes a difference?

Thanks
