Will direct sunlight kill my lcd?

Well, I finally ordered an LCD (planar 19" from Dell) and I'm planning on putting it in my office. Only thing is the area I plan on putting it gets a few hours of direct sunlight each day. I thought I remembered reading something about sunlight causing lcds to fade.

Can anyone confirm this?

Should cause permanent fade - in most cases, LCDs "fade" in bright sunlight because they don't have the brightness to offset the sun. It is more of a perception problemn for the user. Digital photographers often can't use their LCD screens in bright sun - just because they can't be seen, but the effect is no permanent.

However, bright sun is also hot - and that can be more damaging. Why not just shade the LCD or shut the lid when it is bad? If I left my laptop out in the sun here in Arizona at 106 F in the shade, it would probably melt a few things and maybe even warp the case. You could also get blinds or curtains for your office.
