Will Democrats clean up their party like Republicans?

In november it will be very clear the tea party ruined any chance of the gop taking back the senate.

What you call "taking back the party" the rest of america calls a radical shift to the right, and not in a good way.

Good luck attracting all of those independent voters for crucial congressional seats.

Keep in mind that one of the ways the Democrats were able to take control of congress in the first place was to run conservative Democrats who had very untraditional Democrat views.

People like Heath Shuler who is pro-gun and pro-life.

The fact is that in MANY parts of the country 'real' Democrats can't get elected anymore so they run DINOs who are about 50/50 Democrat/Republican.

Kind of ironic how the Democrats and Republicans both find success by moving to the right.

The Republican party won't achieve a super-majority without electing more liberal Republicans, just as the Democratic party wasn't able to achieve their super-majority without electing more conservative Democrats.

These liberal Republicans would be considered "RINOs"... and aren't popular this election cycle. Maybe in 2012, but all bets are off for that election.

Well, you're half right. Republicans only "clean up" in damage control time, too. It's why the major issues being pushed by the party this election cycle are the things Republicans can win broadly on: taxes, spending, and the size of government. They're not emphasizing or really talking about the controversial social issues, which scare independents away from the party.

Well, you're half right. Republicans only "clean up" in damage control time, too.

Both parties 'clean up' when they are out of power. They get back to their base, and their party's 'ideals', in order to stir up voter support. The Democratic Party did the same thing in 2005k, when they were in complete disarray as the GOP was in early 2009. The power pendulum swings back and forth as the party in power inevitably trips, loses their way, and the voters attempt to force them back on track.

But his boy Trey Grayson which he picked in a primary got trounced by a tea partier. Real republicans said No No to Mitch's boy.
So They are actively getting rid of players that are not representing them as they should. So far 6 members of congress will not even been on the ballot for the regular elections.

Don't get me started on nuts of course they both have nuts, but the R's are usually religeous right, while yours are countless. Also the R's Nuts don't go infiltrate the other side to submarine them like your coffee partiers and SEIU'ers.

To answer the OP, the Democrats are politically a bigger tent party than where the GOP is currently. So I doubt you will see the Democrats purging anyone even halfway considered to be a moderate like what is going on in the GOP.
