Will DDR2 800 RAM work in a 333/400 slot?

A friend of mine is looking to upgrade her RAM. Will this RAM: G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)


Work in this PC: Gateway PC
According to the online specs it has: Four DIMM slots support DDR 333/400 dual channel modules.

The DDR2 800 GSkill ram is only $46.99 for 2 gigs. The DDR 400 is $74.99. (Why is that by the way?). Anyway 47 bucks would be the way to go if she can do it.

Those are two completely different types of DDR memory. They are not interchangeable. DDR is probably more expensive due to the lack or supply. If her current PC uses DDR, thats what you need to use.

I see. Thank you. Annoying to pay more for inferior RAM, but that's life.

You should see how much PC100/133 SDRAM costs.
(It's about $50+ for half a Gig)
