Will current motherboards support dual core Athlon 64's?

I was wondering if anyone knew if the dual core Athlon 64's coming out next year will be able to run on regular motherboards, or if they will require new MB designs to run.

There is all sorts of speculation. Some have suggested a new socket (900?), but this would piss off mobo manufacturers and consumers. Most are hoping for a 939 pin layout so they would be compatible with existing mobos, but socket 940 has also been postulized. There really won't be a definitive answer until AMD makes some sort of official statement about it.
