Will Corsair XMS (2x512) work with Corsair Value (2x512)

I've heard that Venice chips are able to go 4 dimms without downclocking the ram. My question is that would it be ok to add corsair value ram since timings dont seem to matter at all to this A64 system? I'd rather spend 85 on a gig than 125 on a gig if you know what i mean! For 125 I could buy 1.5 gigs of value ;)

Mixing the ram?

Pointless because the fast ram will run at the slow rams settings.

yeah but i'm saying I dont care about timings. The timings hardly matter with A64s as far as I know. Right now I have a single stick of value ram in another computer, would it be more COST effective to just buy another single stick of 512 value and then get a twin pack of 512 value to go together and put my XMS back into my other system?

i thought you would need to run the ram at 2t with 4 sticks even with a venice...

It would be most cost effective to not buy anymore ram! just use the value in your amd64, cause it is more about capacity and speed and than timings with 64s. put the xms in a system that is more ram-dependant.

Mixing RAM? Sounds janky. I heard that you have to go to the slower 2T to use 4 DIMMs on the AMD64 CPUs. Is this still true or is there a BIOs revision that I can get my grubby little hands on? I want 2GB of Ballistix!

1st! I'm not the only one that noticed an error on thier Venice cpu that when 4 dimm modules are installed, the ram frequency divisor was locked at 1:4 making pc3200 (ddr400) run at 100!

2nd! I've seen benchmark graphs that showed significant improvements for each ram timing change! Infact, I think lower frequency with tighter timings can often yield better performance!

Mixing ram should be fine as long as they're paired (refer to motherboard documentation). Potential timings may suffer though.

Could work. Should default to 2.5-3-3-8-2T if you're using Corsair VS. You'll probably lose around 80MHz CPU core speed at this slower timing.

My question now is this. If I have to spring for 2x1gb I'll have 2x512 XMS and 1x512 Value. Can I put all 3 sticks into a P4C board? Asus P4C800 Deluxe to be exact.

Would that work?
