I'm looking to oc my upcoming 3500 winnie to 2.6+ and was wondering about the best memory to get ... ideally, I'd like to have the option of staying at cas2 upto around 440-450, and then no more than cas2.5 all the way to 500. Will the Corsair TwinX 1024-3200XLPT cut it?

Any other suggestions?

cheers.

only one memory can do that..ballistix. Well three others if you put serious volts which only DFI boards have (OCZ VX, BH-5/6 and Twinmos UTT)

What board you getting?

I'm getting the DFI LanParty Ultra-D. Besides the Ballistix, wouldn't OCZ EL 3200 Plat rev2 also be a contender?

Not true, my 3200XL dimms do 260 (520DDR) at 2.5-3-3-10 without breaking a sweat (2.6ghz with 1:1 mem divider). I only run at 2.4 coz the thermal paste im using is crapy so I get high temps at 2.6ghz.

In fact, according to a review I read at madshrimps.com, these dimms can hit 280 at those timings. They're based on samsung TCCD chips which do 400DDR @ 2-2-2-5. Plenty of head room for ocing. But be warned, not all chips produced can hit 280 with those timings, it depends on the individual chips.

I thought so too ... all I've read about the XL's seems to say they should be able to hold CL2.5 all the way to 250/500 and beyond.

Incidentally, does Ballistix come in matched pairs? I can only seem to find singles at Newegg. Also, whats the difference b/w Ballistix and Ballistix tracer?

cheers.
