Will changing the videocard ruin my video applications?

Hi guys,

I haven't changed the video cards in an already-running system in a very long time, and I'm about to do so right now:

The thing is... I have a lot of video editing applications on that machine. From Ulead and TMPGEnc to several players and capture gizmos. No codec packs though... ffdshow is all I ever needed.

So my straightforward question is: will my applications be in any way, shape or form, affected by the video card switch?

Also... I need to make sure all the nVidia drivers are erased from the system, before I install the Catalyst. I see there's a program called Drivercleaner that's supposed to do this: http://www.drivercleaner.net/professional.html - does anyone have any experience with it?

Come on, guys... I can't believe there's no one here who switched cards in their computer before!?

as long as you completly remove the old drivers you shouldn't have any problems

That would be the worst case scenario, but just as you make sure you COMPLETELY remove all conflicting driver, it should be okay.

Yeah, I second that, use Driver Cleaner Pro or something to make sure that it is completely gone, restart after each step, and install the new driver. After that, you should be good to go.

If your existing video card is really old,
then suggest you check your version of DirectX..
