Will changing my ISA network card for a PCI one make any difference?

For performance or otherwise. I only have it for my DSL connection. It is a D-Link DE-220PT. I want to get a new motherboard but few still have ISA slots. If a PCI card will perform better anyway, I won't worry about doing without an ISA slot. If there is no difference, then I will lean toward a board with an ISA slot.

PCI has less over-head(CPU cycles) and has a much higher performance potential. If you are buying a new mainboard anyway, go PCI.
Need a low cost network card? Netgear 310, these go for about $18.00 online. Excellent low cost card. Avoid the 311 card these have compatibility issues.

I would suggest going with the PCI NIC just from the standpoint of IRQ sharing. While it won't give you any significant performance boost, it'll probably save some headaches. Plus sooner or later you will have to switch over.
