Will buying a Dlink router resolve my gaming issues?

I have five computers including my notebooks connected to my netgear MA814 router. I absolutely cannot play warcraft 2 or starcraft online together at the same time without some insane lag. I tried port forwarding but it only works for warcraft 3.

The other day I was at my cousin's house and he has a Dlink SuperG router with the same SBC DSL that I have. He is able to play starcraft/warcraf fine on battle.net as if he had unique ip addresses. (I helped him configured his router too)

WTF? I tried updating the firmware on my router and still get the same incredible lag. Do specific router brands have there own methods of handling this type of gaming? I'm aobut to go to compUSA and fork up $60 for a Dlink router to see if it works. (I love old school starcraft/warcraft 2, play it ALOT with my brouthers/family on battle.net)

BTW anyone know how to configure my damn Netgear MA814 to work properly with starcraft/warcraft 2?:)

if each computer requires an unique external ip, then a router won't help.. each ip cost $$$

its probably your netgear having some sort of issues.

I know each ip cost $$$$, but my cousin's router isn't even configured for port forwarding because I configured it for him. ANd he is able to play the games on all of his computers fine. This pisses me off, what gives. WHy is he able to play and not me? (dont wanna pay $$$ for more ip's)
