Will Bush spend Thanksgiving with the troops in Iraq? (Poll)

He has to...he has to prove to america progress is being made...and show respect to the troops he is sending off to kill.
The nation is behind the troops...if he doesn't go...it is a slap in the face for america

Bush miss a photo op? Are you kidding? Of course he will be there, and like last year, said dinner will cost hundreds per head.

Why on Earth would he spend any more time doing PR work in Iraq? He already won the election.

It's vacation days from now till 2008.

This is awesome news for us 🙂

If he goes, it's just a photo op. If he doesn't go, it's because he doesn't care...

I wish the election could have been held after Thanksgiving 🙁....either way, it would have been an easy topic to spin for our side

Hey, looks like someone from "the other side" is taking an objective look at what is being expressed here

This just like almost everything else is being set up as a catch 22. Either way the left will damn him. Go figure...

yeah, glad he got the photo op with the turkey last year. It won him the election. I guess Kerry should have carved one up.

Come on. Kerry did the hunting trip (which I thought looked fake and ridiculous as hell). I saw one where he watched the Red Sox drinking a beer too. If I run for president, I am not going to make any dumb looking cameos to appeal to the red necks.

he has to go! maybe he'll see what a real warzone is like!

Hell if he wants to see what a warzone looks like he should have Thanksgiving in Compton
If Bush just wants the photo op, he can instead go to South Central Los Angeles, specifcally the corner of Florence and Normandie.

The reason it would be a good photo op is because everyone thinks it's a war zone but in reality, nothing happens there

And the answer is!!! --

Far from Iraq, Bush spends quiet holiday

Friday, November 26, 2004
Associated Press

CRAWFORD, Texas -- President Bush spent a down-to-earth Thanksgiving Day at his ranch eating leftovers and riding his mountain bike -- a world away from Baghdad, his secret destination a year ago.

Bush also called members of the military stationed around the world, most of them deployed to the Middle East.

It was a dual celebration: His twin daughters, Jenna and Barbara, marked their 23rd birthdays on the family's ranch. Also at the home were Laura Bush and her mother, Jenna Welch, and the president's parents, former President Bush and Barbara Bush.

The family worked on leftovers from Wednesday's luncheon meeting with Spain's King Carlos and Queen Sofia. That meal had a Thanksgiving theme, with free- range turkey and gravy, mashed sweet potatoes, bass caught at the ranch, stuffing, pan-roasted vegetables, pecan and pumpkin pies with ice cream. There was cake yesterday for the twins' birthdays.

Bush also rode his bicycle on the trails at the 1,600-acre ranch, and chopped cedar, White House spokeswoman Claire Buchan said.

In the morning, the president called 10 members of the military representing all five branches of the service. "As the men and women of America's armed forces are sacrificing for the liberties we all enjoy, the president wanted to express his gratitude for their service and sacrifice, and to wish them a happy Thanksgiving," Buchan said.

Last Thanksgiving, Bush slipped away from the ranch to visit troops in Baghdad, leaving his family and most of his usual entourage behind. Mindful of that history, many aides and journalists anxiously awaited word of another secret trip this year, checking their pagers and cell phones often.

Of course Bushwhack won't go - he got his polished photo ops and slick sound bites.

he used the troops last year just as he uses the american flag to wipe his A## on each and every day.

bush will always suck every worthwhile drop to politicize an event to inflate his already bursting ego and elephant-faced self. he doesn't care who died or who is risking their lives for his choosable wars...he will never have to personally sacrifice a damn thing the rest of his life.

People here really don't think logically at all. Only reason he went last time is because they snuck him in. THis time around every terrorist in the the Middle East would be watching and waiting.

Yeah who would have thought that a commander in chief would go to a war zone that he is sending thousands of troops to serve in a questionable war.

It's not like he hasn't served before....oh wait...actually yeah...maybe he is better off at his ranch in texas 😛

I thought the world was safer now. I thought Iraq was all happy and under control except a few strongholds like Fallujah. If Dub believed his own lies, what would he have to worry about?

Why couldn't he touch down right there at Baghdad International??? Doesn't he have confidence in his newly appointed Iraqi government to provide security???

This was the point of my poll. After over 20 months, thousands upon thousands of lives lost on both sides and hundreds of billions of dollars wasted on an unprovoked invasion based on lies, the liar who began it all can't even fly into the country he invaded because of security concerns. Instead, he has leftovers down at the ranch.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm certain they aren't celebrating in Iraq.

And come to think of it, what exactly are we thankful for? Four more years of this insanity???
