This is one of the reasons I hate how authoritarian our government has become. He in no insinuated that he wished it to happen or not. He just suggested that it's about the only thing that would keep him from finishing his term unabated. If the SS visits him for that comment, we truly are living in 1984.

A few months back while Bush was in Eastern Europe making a speach, someone threw a gernade at him. It was a dud but, if it had gone off the world would be very very different.

I find it amusing that defenders of the Administration continually speak of his "mandate". When your approval ratings drop below 40%, you no longer have a mandate. Bush's ratings are now below Clinton's lowest.

It is becoming increasingly clear - as the failures mount, as the indictments roll in, and as the Rove disinformation machine is unable to convince even the below-IQ-90 crowd that things are going swimmingly - that Bush's swift boat is heading over the falls.

I hope Bush stays. I hope Bush stays the course. Given current trends, by 2008 the broad public consensus may be that Bush is the worst President ever. And then maybe the Dems will be able to take back control of this country.

Lets keep some god damn respect here. We can't attack the Republicans for trashing Clinton if we do the same.

Lets keep this in the courts and clean. This thread is pointless.

yes, of course. I can't see anything happening that would force Bush to resign or threaten an impeachment.

Yes. Like a warranty, it will finally go too far just after he's done :).

Judas, though I agree with your concern w/r/t the current administration, the SS took idle threats on the President's life seriously well before Bush was in office.

Yay. Unless somethig extremely damning gets revealed, I think they'll manage to keep a lid on things until the end of his term.

History will eventually tell us the depth of the crookedness of this admin though.

The Democrats would have to win the 2006 Congressional elections and then vote to impeach him. I don't think it will happen since Americans seem to love the Republicans so much for both religious reasons and suicidal economic reasons. Still, I would laugh my ass off if it did--if he became the first ever President to actually get impeached. Then perhaps he could be tried for treason and jailed or executed.

Well some kid got a visit by the FBI or CIA because he had some poster of Bush and a gun. We have to be careful these days.

Of course he will, but he probably shouldn't. You think he's going to just voluntarily step down? You need a poll.

Yeah I know it's there job to take anything seriously until proven otherwise. It just concerns me deeply. I didn't name the bush admin at all, I mean the government in general. It's almost like once you take a job for the FBI or CIA or BATF, or IRS, et. al. you cease being human and become your job. The Patriot Act only makes it easier for them to spy on the rest of us. By the way the OP even went as far as to call the perp a fool for doing it.
