they can build new stars. they have Daniel bryan. He is hugely popular but the WWE kept ignoring it until it really got to be huge. then they scrambled to put him in wrestlemania. Though they put him in match with HHH.
Also they had CM punk. again hugely popular but kept being put in shit matches and got fed up and left WWE.
I would say Punk and Bryan are stars despite the WWE not because of them. It took a "pipebomb" for Punk to reach that level and even there he played 2nd fiddle to Cena only main eventing a few PPVs as champ. Vince called Summerslam headlined by Bryan and Cena a "swing and a miss". Even if you got the crowd eating out the palm of your hand the not a muscle bound freak=can't draw mindset is still prevalent.
if undertaker is going to lose it will be to someone like HHH or mr mcmahon.
I would hope Undertaker would rather walk than feed their ego's, but I guess a screwjob could happen.

He'll win until he retires, no way they will let him lose at this point. I'll be watching, my daughter loves wrestling for some odd reason.

lol. you just described any shot on TV. "pretends to be real"

No i didnt. Regular TV shows do not pretend to be real. Bones for example. It tries to portray realness, but it makes no claims to be following these real life people on their daily adventures. Its a scripted show and meant to be so. Wrestling is scripted but pretends to be otherwise. Same as reality TV which i also dont watch.

Actually, since the 80's or early 90's the WWE has been completely open about the fact that it is just a TV show. If you think anything on TV, including "real" sports, isn't scripted then you are still obviously asleep. If it is on TV, then it is a TV show no matter what they tell you it is.

Oh, and Lesnar will win. They were comparing this match to Andre/Hogan for a good bit of the encounter on Monday.

Fantastic!

For those saying wrestling is fake, duh. But crazy shit can and still does happen in the ring, like when Steve Austin's neck was broken off a botched piledriver. They're still putting their bodies at risk and hoping the other guy doesn't fuck up what they practiced.

yeah there are still "oh shit" moments. though they have cut back on some of the stuff that caused people to get hurt.

When brock F5'd big show off teh 2nd or third rope and the ring collapsed it was a "holly fuck" moment. though yeah it was rigged it was still awesome.

then there are unscripted moments. like when Foley went threw the cage in hell in a cell.

Yeah they banned piledrivers I remember.

Foley had a ton of unscripted moments, like the stunts outside of the ring. I'm amazed he's not a quivering vegetable from all the times he's hit his head on concrete or metal (barricades, poles, steps, chairs).

Which is dumb. No match will ever eclipse Hogan's body slam match against Andre at WM3. I don't care how good this match is, it won't be that good. Neither of the wrestlers are Hogan or Andre level.

And I agree with Korea74. Hulkamania hasn't died! He needs to come back.

Where do you guys think the idea for "reality" TV shows came from? Like "The Real World" MTV show that started the fad. All TV shows are fake and I challenge you to find a TV show that does not have "writers" in the credits. Even documentaries have to be viewed with an jaundiced eye these days.

Having said that, it's still fun to watch and the injuries are very real. Degeneration X had the best act though, now it's kind of "blah".

I haven't watched in quite a few years. But if UT is really 30 - 0 then how is he not Champion?

he is only 30-0 in wrestlemania.

Also he only wrestles anymore at wrestlemania (and leading up to it). the dude is old and looks it. He really should retire.

He is not that old (49).

And 30-0 is no streak to write home about. Goldberg has the best streak of all time! Even though I wish DDP had ended it.

godlberg? blah. the guy fucking sucked ass. To be honest his streak ruined him. after it was over nobody cared. he couldn't wrestle and looked like shit in the ring.

He was never billed as a great wrestler, just a beast that couldn't be stopped. But, I do agree that after his streak, he was a nobody. He wasn't charismatic and didn't really have anything other than "beast mode".

OK that makes sense. Last time I watched was probably 10 years or so ago. I watched the TNT show???? or something like that a few times because it had a few of the guys I liked but it seemed pretty cheesy/poorly written even for wrestling.

I don't think anything will rival the Monday Night Wars or the Attitude Era. McMahon had some genius ideas back in the 90s and the talent to really back it up. Today's wrestlers just aren't the same.
