Will "breaking" my hard drive barrier require me to format?

So there's this utility at Maxtor's site that will enable me to bypass my old BIOS limit of a 32GB to its full capacity of 60gb..but I already copied everything to it while it is in 32gb form. If I do the "upgrade", will it erase everything?

Norton Ghost!!!!! It'll take a bunch of CD's for 32GB but it'll surely get the job done correctly. Make sure to keep them clean because if any ONE cd has a problem, its go nna make a big pain.

Did you even read my post? That's not the problem..the problem is my BIOS won't recognize the drive to be greater than 32gb, and the Maxtor utility will allow it to do so.

Update your motherboard bios? You never mentioned that you made an attempt.

So I assume you have 32gb partitioned, the rest is not? My guess would be that you would not loose anything, you'd just partition and format the rest of the HD after you flash the bios. Can't be positive though, just backup anything important and try it.
