He has more home runs the Mark did at the All Star break last year, plus he still has quite a few games to go before the break.

Maybe I should have started a poll for answers like that. Why not, or why do you think he will.

It's never to early to speculate, your not gonna lose your house if your wrong.

I think he will only get walked if the sitiaution permits it, meaning first base is open and letting him on isn't a danger to losing. I don't feel a team would intentionally walk him to keep him from beating the record.

Who is Mark Macguire? It's McGwire, for future reference.

Anyway, to the topic at hand, I think Bonds will break it. He has about one home run for every two games hes played. Figure 162 games in a season, he's on pace to hit 80, so 70 will be not too tough to obtain, even if he does go through a slump.

I think he'll do it.

His past stats have shown that he actually becomes a BETTER hitter after the all-star break.

100 home runs, here we come!

he always seems to do better before the break then after. he was pretty close with mark before the allstar break when mark broke the record and then he went downhill

<< I think he's gonna get walked too much... so no >>

Why, more record breaking means more media, which means more money all around.

thats odd how a record could stand for so long without anyone really coming close, then the past few years its been home run madness.

I haven't really followed baseball that closely the last couple years, but I remember reading that Ken Griffey Jr. was well on pace to beat Hank Aaron's home run record.. anyone know if he's still on track to beat this?

No I don't believe he will. Pace doesn't mean anything in baseball. He could go into a slump where he only hits 4 or 5 in a month and then he's not on pace for anything.

He still has a shot, but he's just getting back off the Disabled List now and he only has 2 home runs so far in about 5 games. He'll have to stay injury free and play until he's 40 to have a shot.

I think it would be cool if he did. But he will probably get walked alot. Today, I think he was walked his first three times up.

Too early to tell if he has a real shot. But he's a better hitter after the all star break usually.

1) Juiced balls
2) Pitching being depleated by expansion
3) New smaller ballparks.
