Will auto body shop be able to tell if my car is out of frame?

Ok, I suspect my car is out of frame due to the accident I was involved in a year ago, the body shop I went to get the fix told me there is no apparent damage to the frame...but I think there is. I am thinking of taking my car to another body shop and have them inspect the car for me. I just wonder if there is such machinery that tells whether a car is out of frame or not. Thank you.

Not exactly a popular question I think?

You must mean if the frame is bent. Usually, if you pull off the panels and stuff, it is easily apparent if the frame is bent or not. If they pulled apart your car and said it looks fine, it probably is.

Plus it's a shop, if the frame really was bent, they should be anxious to straighten it out and charge you accordingly. :p

Well, the thing is the bent is not really visible, I can sense there is something wrong with the frame, but I need some machinery to show me the data or whatever it is to confirm my suspicion.

There is a machine that all good shops should have. Its computerized and has these arms in the front and back, and the tech moves these reference points on the arms to differnt points on the car, Using a computer database for your car, the machine will compare your car's measurements to a true frame vehicle, and that will tell the tech if your frame is bent or not.

Just a suggestion, go to a parking lot and have someone drive your car ina straight line while you watch from the rear. If the rear of the car is doglegging to the left or right then the unibody is tweaked and you are screwed.

And how can you sense it's bent? If it doesn't drive right it's probably some other component/aspect of the car, or it could all be mental. Everyone says their cars never drive the same after an accident.
