Will any wireless AP/router/??? do this....

I have my dialup connection shared between 5 other computers. The dialup connection is through a computer running Windows 2000 and I have it set to ICS. All computers are plugged into a simple 10/100mbit hub and the internet conection is shared through there.

I just got a laptop with a wireless 802.11g card and I want to roam around the house with the laptop and be online.

I have a D-link wireless router but I've read that it only works with Windows 2000. Now can I just buy an Wireless AP/router (that works with win2k and winxp), plug in all my computers, turn on ICS, and have the internet connection shared?

All other computers on the networking are running WinXP. Only the computer with the dialup connection is using Win2k.

Thanks!

Yeah you can plug an Access Point (or a Router working as an Access Point) to the Win2K and use Wireless.

It only difficulty can come from ICS, ICS is not flexible in assigning IP numbers, you will have to assign an IP to the Access Point that fits ICS, and then switch off the DHCP on the Access Point and assign manually IPs that are acceptable by ICS to the Wireless Clients.

I don't understand how to plug the win2k computer into the access point while it's also plugged into the LAN to share the connection with the other computers.

Sorry!

Plug it to the Hub. Access it from one of the Network's computers to change the IP.

How come I can't ping the wireless access point I have now when it's connected to my hub?

I've tried both the win2k and a winxp rig and I can't connect or even ping the access point. 😕
