I bought it on DVD and it is amazing. I am blown away by it. I dont know if any mini-series can compare. But they are making one about the Pacific Theater.

Just got the first three discs today from Netflix. Just finished up watching the third disc and holy crap what an amazingly great series. I know it's not 100% factual to what happened, but seeing what all the soldiers went through makes me respect them even more. Soon as I have the cash, I'm buying the box set.

that just means you're a tool for truth rather than imagination in your preferred form of media.

notice how i also introduced comraderie. yes, character development is a good part of any media experience, and seeing how guys operate, succeed, and fail under pressure is far more entertaining than the cool-under-fire jack bauer.
its hardly unneeded. the show is not up to BoB caliber, pure and simple.

Are you being serious or just being sarcastic to me?
Anywho, if it's the earlier..
It is about a company of paratroopers during d-day forward during WWII directed by Stephen Speilburg and has the same calibur effects and story as Saving Private Ryan.
It is essentially a high quality movie broken down into 10 one hour parts. Absolutely nothing cheap about it. It is a made for TV series that is better then most movies in the theater.
Every time I watch an episode I wonder how something this good could have ever been made for tv.
