Will any normal PC harddrive work in the the XBOX?

they arent like slim laptop drives are they? any normal drive will work fine, correct??

Yes and no. Yes all drives will work in an xbox, but no to the fact that not all will be lockable (a must if you use live)

Someone mentioned something about MS being able to scan the hard drive contents via Live, so if you're thinking "mod" you might want to look into that to see if it's FUD or fact.

There's also ways of switching drives, so you have one drive with your "media" and another clean drive for Live use.

xbox-scene has a list of hard-drives that are lockable. You can't get on xbox live with an unlocked hard drive.

I have an xbox witha bad hard drive, do i need to have a mod chip to replace it?

yes. Once you replace it and lock it, then you can should be able to remove/disabel to modchip and work as normal.
