I was planning on buying an SK6 but dont want to get the included delta fan cuz of hearing issues. Will any 80mm case fan work? HOw do I install it on the SK6? Newegg.com has quiet a few 80mm fans that are good brands, i was thinking about getting the $5 sunnon fan rated at 2.8k rpm and 39CFM, thats more than most 60mm fans! WIll this one be good enuff???

THANKS MUCHOS IN ADVANCE :)

EDIT: also will a 90mm fan work?

Tight:). But u lost 1 dimm slot, hhmmmmmmmmmm I wonder if my K7T266PRO will have any probs if i move the 1 stick of ram to dimm 3. Did u install the heatsink on to the socket, then install the fan (or was it the other way around)?

Yeah, any 80 mm fan is going to work. I'm using the Sunon 39 cfm 80mm on my SK-6, works well and and is extremely quiet.

It looks like the DIMM slot is blocked off by the fan, but I think there might be just enough clearance. If not, then you can always just add a few small spacers to raise the fan a hair.....maybe some rubber grommets or washers. Yeah, I installed the heatsink on the socket first and then added the fan. Use the the lower profile clips. They're the ones that work with standard height fans; 25mm I believe. I have my fan blowing down onto to the heatsink; usually label side down for most fans, but you can try flipping it over and have it sucking off of the heatsink and see if you get lower temps that way.

Ah, that is neat. I knew the SK6 was intended for use with 60mm fans, but I have always heard of people using 80mm fans. I wanted to know how they were doing it. I tried something like that with my OCZ Gladiator. It didn't work too well... Heh.

I'm using the 42.5 cfm Sunon. My cpu is usually around the low to mid 40s at idle and high 40s under full load.

Hmmm, I have the same exact set up as the one shown in the picture. When idle and running default clock speed, temp is about 36C. When overclocked to 1595 MHz (145 * 11), temp increases to about 50C under full load.

I just slapped a Sunon HS 80MM fan on my SK6 and it seems to work just fine. The clips aren't super tight, but as long as you don't toss your case around you should be fine.

Don't worry about your RAM. The fan is so far above the mobo it shouldn't hit anything. BTW, I'm using a Sunon 42CFms on my SK6s.

So, does the 80mm fan cool better than a 7k rpm fan like the one ive got? I would like to cut down on noise as well, as my pc is really fricking loud right now. I just dont want to jury rig anything. Anybody know where you can get kits or one of those adapters?? Thanks

It may be technically jury-rigged, but it is quite tight and secure and isn't going to fall off or anything. My temps stayed the same going from the Delta 7K screamer to a 42CFm Sunon. MUCH quieter. You may hear the fan but it's not that high-pitched hair-dryer sound of the Delta.

I don't see how anyone can stand those Delta 6800+ rpm 60mm fans. They sound like hairdryers.
