I'm looking to hook my old Obsidian X24 (24mb voodoo2PCI) up in my computer for some older Glide games that run like garbage on my GF3, I was wondering if the card would work alongside my GF3 though?? Hopefully someone has some practical experience with this.

Yes, it should, but then you can probably switch the game from glide to direct3d or opengl.
There has to be alternatives...... and Geforce3 works much better than Voodoo2
Good luck.

Should work fine with the only real problem being in new games that automaticly pick the Voodoo to play, say, a OpenGL game when you clearly want to run it with the GeForce3.... you might be better off running a Glide wrapper (a prog that lets non-glide videocards run glide games)

Rooster286, the Obsidian X24 is a SLI on a single card. Windows 2k did not work with SLI video cards and since you are using an XP/ME dual boot, you might not be able to play games in XP because its based off of Win 2k. Hope this helped.

Its funny that this topic should come up I have the same Obsidian but a Geforce 2 GTS and I can get the game to select the Obsidian but I cant get an image to the screen the game will use the card and I can here the game gui's underneath being used as I move the mouse but the screen is just plain white. I had the same idea use the card for older games :D

I was using Windows 98SE and the last drivers from the 3dfx site because the official obsidian drivers would not work.

I really dont know why you would bother. The last time a glide game was faster on a voodoo was when the voodoo5 was pitted against a gf2 gts. My geforce3 is the fastest UT card out, faster than the 8500 as well. Period.

Thanks for the responses, There are some games out there that have very strange artifacts and glitched when run in OpenGL. I've thought of a wrapper, but I've heard some negative things about it. I might just put together another PC and throw my extra Voodoo3 3000 in there...but I was hoping I could cheap out and just put the Obsidian in :) I shouldn't need anything more than a p3 500 or so for the extra PC, I was just hoping someone had tried it. I've used the Obsidian on ME before and it worked fine, and I don't mind booting up into ME to run the older games. If anyoen has any other input, please let me know :) thanks!

What glide games do you still play rooster286????

Just ordere a Geforce Ti 200 and I'm getting ready to retire my voodoo2.

I'm sure as soon as I do I'll get the urge to play an old game and make a big loud DOH sound.

Blood is one :)

Blood 2 seems to have alot of glitches on my GF3 also :(

Daggerfall is another that runs funky on my GF3, those are a few that I can think of...if I find anymore, I'll post them :)
