Will an Antec true 430 support the 8800 gtx?

Current setup-
Asus A8N-Sli
Athlon 64 4000
2 gigs of Super Talent RAM
100 gig HD (Western Digital?)
Creative Audigy 2

Yes. I won't vouch for stability, however my friend has a 430 that came with his Sonata II case running one.

Well, that card will definately stress that powersupply to its limits, so you might want to consider buying something with a little more juice, but it -might- be enough to run it, temporarily at least - until you can get a better PSU.

It's definitely capable of running the system during stressful situations. The only thing I might be worried about is when booting up. I think it should work fine, however.

Thats a good idea ....? If you into toasting a 650.00$ video card or mabe your mother board.

I would never chance it. I don't think you can add all three 12+ rails with that psu. I could be wrong?

it should be good now but in long term it won't be good...you should upgrade to a better psu later on.

I'm very curious about this as well, as I may have just gotten the go-ahead from the wife to get a GTX instead of a GTS. According to what I've read, the GTX requires a minimum of 30A on the 12v rails. The Antec True430 (http://www.antec.com/specs/true430_spe.html) seems to have only 26A (which is good for the GTS, which requires 26A).

Just to confirm: Xaire, are you talking about the PSU I linked (True430) or the TruePower II 430?

It's the true 430. This PS has been a real work horse. It's going on five years now. However, my affection for this PS is secondary to having a functional system. Perhaps I'll upgrade to the Antec TP Trio 550.

A very smart investment if you're set on getting an 8800gtx, IMHO. Good luck with it. I'm contemplating getting one myself. I've got the TPII 430, which has a total of 34A on the two 12v rails. Theoretically, I should be fine. Then there is the issue of getting it into my Antec Super Lanboy case. I've seen pictures suggest that it is possible but, measuring it myself, I sure don't know how without taking out the HD cage.

At any rate, have fun upgrading!
