I have no idea. If anyone else knows how they'll handle this, speak up!

otherwise, just yap yap yap about what you think they will or should do.

I remember when intel designated by processor speed and amd was still using their performance rating, most people thought the overall schemes were stupid. They've both somehow made it worse.

FASN8 (8x4 Platform)

The FASN8 (First AMD Silicon Next-gen 8-core Platform) is a dual-socket, octa-core PC platform consisting of two Socket F (1207) called Socket F (1207 FX) (also called Socket L1) and a pair of Phenom FX processors. Socket F (1207) is used instead of AM2+ to support three HyperTransport links for multiprocessors. The AMD RD790 chipset will support this platform with DSDC (Dual Socket Direct Connect). Since it also supports 4 PCI Express x16 graphics cards (at x8,x8,x8,x8), the platform also called 8x4 (8 CPU cores and 4 GPU cores).
  • Agena FX, to be released in Q1 2008, Quad-Core, 65 nm
    • Phenom FX-90: 2.60GHz, HT 1.9GHz, 4 x 512KB L2, 2MB L3
    • Phenom FX-91: 2.80GHz, HT 2.1GHz, 4 x 512KB L2, 2MB L3
The first letter G of GE/S/P-6xxx was chosen arbitrarily. The second letter indicates power consumption (E = Energy Efficient, S = Standard, P = ?). It seems that the four digits are comparable with Core 2 Duo (GS-6550 is equivalent to E6550), this is just my guess.
